What to Expect

Visiting an osteopath for the first time can be a daunting experience for some people, especially if you don't know what to expect.

Arrival

Once you arrive, just come on in and have a seat in our reception area. Our receptionist works off-site, so don't be surprised if the reception area is empty. If it's your first time with us, you will have received a new patient form in your initial email that you can fill out online. If you were unable to complete this, there will be a paper form on the reception desk for you to fill out. Your osteopath with come out to get you when they are ready.

Discussion

Your osteopath will take the time to listen to your story in order to find out what circumstances led to your pain or injury. We will also ask you questions about your life, general health and goals so that we can help get you back doing the things you enjoy without restrictions.

Assessment

The next step is to have a look at how your body moves and functions in order to find the cause of your symptoms. We may also check your posture, muscle tension and strength. We can gain insight into problems in your body simply by how the tissues in your body feel.

Treatment

We use a variety of hands-on techniques which aim to relieve muscle tension, maximise joint mobility, improve nerve function and allow optimal blood flow. Some of the techniques used include massage, stretching and joint manipulation. Your osteopath will explain how each of these techniques work to address your specific issue and improve your overall wellbeing.

Advice

At Complete Freedom Osteopathy, we believe that what you do outside the treatment is just as important as the treatment itself. We will discuss with you what you can do at home to help yourself get better and live the life you want to live. This could include stretches, exercises and lifestyle advice.

Finishing up

Your osteopath will take your payment in the treatment room at the end of the consult. This is also an opportunity to book a follow-up appointment if required. Otherwise you can always call or book online.
