What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy involves clinical treatment of the neuro-musculoskeletal system, which is made up of the bones, muscles, nerves and other tissues that support your body and help it move. Osteopaths are highly qualified healthcare professionals who treat a variety of medical conditions.
We listen to your story and use hands-on assessment to understand the root cause of your pain and tailor a plan to help you move and live with freedom. We study for five years at university and are fully registered with AHPRA, the same agency which regulates GPs, dentists and other allied health professionals. We are also required to complete 25 hours of professional development every year, which ensures that we remain up to date with the latest medical knowledge and research. Osteopathic treatment is guided by three core principles:

-
The body is one unit - each part is connected and the different parts can influence each other.
-
The body has self-regulating and self-healing mechanisms - we believe that our bodies are amazing at getting themselves better, sometimes they just need some help for this to occur.
-
The body’s structure and function are reciprocally inter-related - this is just a way of saying that if there is something wrong with the structure or positioning of our body, it can influence how well we can move and function. This works the other way too: the way we use our body can actually influence its structure.
This holistic approach creates a unique point of difference for osteopaths and leads to a high level of care and professionalism.
